When I was in college, I had a SBI and ICICI student account which offers special features as compared to normal savings bank account, now I don't remember all of the features, but one of them was to keep minimum value of Rs 500 (afaik ICICI has 10k minimum limit on normal savings bank account) which was a great feature as back in the days, I barely used to had any money as like may other students. You can know more about ICICI student bank account here so if you are a student, you should look to open a student account.
The only problem with them is, you won't get credit card on them, for that you need a normal bank account only.

I know most of the people will say Bits pilani for it being older and probably having better infrastructure and being preferred choice of students but I know bit mesra is an excellent institute also.
