Gandhi My Father (drama)
Cast: Akshaye Khanna, Darshan Zariwala, Shefali Shah, Bhoomika Chawla
Direction: Feroz Abbas Khan
If you like serious films, then it is for you. It’s a question that has been there but never answered. Its something that tries to depict the story how the persona of the father engulfed the son’s life.
Gandhi is itself a big personality, an entity. But as a father how much successful is he in guiding his son? Why his son Harilal had to live a life as a cheat, alcoholic and as nothing? The questions are many and the answer is not clear. This film tries to get the answers.
This is the first production of Anil Kapoor, as a producer. It’s definitely a good move with a good topic. The director is also a person who can do justice to the whole film. If you have sent director Feroz Khan's theatre adaptation, Gandhi viruddh Gandhi, then you know how good is he. But do not try to find the story that was in the theatre, and Naseer and Kay Kay as the father-son due, who did a great work.
The film has several touchy moments and it can make you weep. Zariwala as Gandhi and Akshay Khanna as the son did a wonderful job. Kasturba (Shefali) and Harilal's wife Gulab (Bhoomika) had nothing much to do. It’s a good move by Anil Kapoor and a good work by Feroze Khan.
