How to buy pets in India - Buy a dog, cat, or a parrot legally!

Shops: You can buy pets in the pet shops available in your area. There will be different pet shops available in a particular area. Search for a local pet shop from where you can buy a pet of your choice. You will find dog, cat, turtle, parrot, Squirrels, and such other animals in the pet shops.
While buying from a pet shop, remember a few things-
1.Check out whether the pet shop is legal. Many a pet shops are illegal. They also sell pets which are illegal to sell. Do not buy an illegal pet. Do not buy from an illegal pet shop.
2.See whether the pet shop has a good reputation. In many cases a pet shop may cheat on you as you may not know about the pet and its condition.
3.Check out the pet well before taking delivery. The pet you select should be healthy and fine.
4.Select a pet that has a good medical report. In many pet shops, you will find medical reports of the pets available for sale.
5.Take a friend with you who knows about pets. You can even take your vet friend while buying a legal pet in India.
6.Physically see and examine the pet.
7.From the pet shop know well about the pet, its species, its habits, food etc, so that you can take good care of it.
Online shops: There are many websites from whom you can buy pets in India. You can buy a dog, cat, or a parrot legally. These websites offers various pets for sell. They also offer various species of a particular pet. In dogs itself you will find several species which are available in any pet shop.

2.Sometimes you will also see images
3.The contact number of the seller or the website is made available to the visitor.
Online Classifieds- Online classified are very helpful for you in finding out the pet you want. You can buy a dog, cat, or a parrot legally from such classifieds. These classified includes about the pet and its cost along with the contact number.
Newspaper classifieds – Newspaper classifieds are another source of buying pets in India. You can by a dog, cat, or a parrot legally from such classifieds. Just check out the pet and meet the owner. See the condition of the pet before buying.
I am not aware about online shops for buying pets in India. Any chance you may name some?
Vizal, you are right. As far I know, there is NO such service where you can buy online pets in India. Indians only prefers dogs as pets and if you going to spend some money than obviously you would like to see the pet once at least.
Although I would still like to check the facts, you never know what’s going on in cities like Bangalore/Mumba/Delhi
Most of the pet shops, in Delhi-NCR, claim to get pups from south India (Especially B’Lore)and Calcutta, I believe before getting the pups from thr these guys are using some email connection however after doing a googling I realize dogsindia.com is the only site catering to Dog Lovers in India. Dogindia does not provide online sale purchase. I guess this is going to evolve sooner or later.
Thanks Vizal for pointing to the site http://www.dogsindia.com/ - it looks fairly informative though yes, they don’t sell dogs. Infact now if we think about it, I don’t think it will be a great idea to sell dogs online. You can sell parrots, fishes online but not cats or dogs
On the side note, how did u found this page ? Through Google or Orkut ? How did u liked the site ? Is there anything which you want me to add ?
Hi, Thanks for continuing the thread :). Dogsindia.com is truly informative but i believe It can improve a lot specially from UI perspective. I can think of many ways people can sell dogs through internet. I have sold pups, many times, using indiatimes.com classifieds (It used to be free once upon a time). In my personal opinion its even hard to sell Parrots online, lot of wildlife laws in place, and Parrots is a difficult art I would say. Its difficult to prove the sexing of parrots. Confirmed pairs are difficult to find. Also you can find lot of Dog breeders in india but its difficult to locate any parrot breeders. Site is nice, I guess you may add a Pets section (its a niche category) you may be able to target real pet lovers. Dogsindia does not provide such a platform. Did you happen to see http://www.dogspot.in?
