So keeping the product reviews articles continued, after covering Broadband providers in India, this article is about various DVD players available in India. Now though I don't own a DVD player(I watch everything on my PC only, I even don't own a TV!) :D

We all are going to agree that Movie watching experience is alot different with DVDs as compared to watching them on TV or on PC as the DVDs offer high quality. Earlier systems were not intelligent enough to start the movie from where it was interrupted or stopped. The latest DVD players remember the position / scene where the DVD stopped due to power failure or otherwise. There are many reputed manufacturers who offer excellent DVD players. One can select a DVD player of their choice.

One of the most popular models seem to be Philips DVD Player DVP3166X/94. This is priced very aggressively and costs only Rs. 4499. Philips takes pride in declaring that this player can virtually play any disc! You can play movies and music. USB port allows you to plug in your USB drive and play music or watch your photos.

For people who want to know technical features, this has a 12 bit 108MHz D/A converter for picture/Display and 24 bit, 192 kHz D/A converter for sound. Frequency response is 30-20000 Hz. This ultra slim DVD player with 360 x 37 x 210 mm size fits any space conveniently in your drawing room. This excellent player can playback different media like CD, CD-RW, Video CD/SVCD, DVD, DivX, DVD+R/+RW, DVD-R/-RW, DVD-Video.

You can play audio files with MP3, Dolby Digital, PCM, WMA formats. Child lock and parental controls are provided. Power consumption is very low at 10Watts. Consider this Philips DVD Player DVP3166X/94, if you are looking for a quality DVD player.

Sony produces some of the finest audio visual products. And they also make finest DVD Players. Sony DVP-NS51P costs around Rs 5999 and Sony NS57 DVD Player costs Rs 6999 with some additional features. Though they are priced slightly higher than the others with similar rating, we may need to pay more for the brand and quality.

You may have a stand alone DVD player connected to your Television. However, you may be wishing to watch movies on the move. Sony DVP-FX810 is ideal Portable DVD Player with 8" Swivel Screen. This is priced at Rs 19999 and a good buy if you are interested to watch movies while on tour or on picnic or simply while driving.

The battery can support up to 5 hours. You can even plug in a car adapter. The swivel and flip screen enable you to watch the movie from multiple viewing angles. Remote control is very handy. This Sony DVP-FX810 can support DVD/CD Playback Formats like DVD, DVD-RW/-R, DVD+RW/+R, JPEG. You can probably use this to give official presentations (without laptop) or use it to enjoy your outings better.

Bajaj is a popular Indian company that manufactures wide ranging Electrical and Electronic products. Bajaj has come out with a DVD player DVX-11A. While there are many DVD players in the market below Rs 3000, Bajaj’s DVD player price of Rs. 4490, seems to be the confidence that they have on their brand and quality. This DVD player supports 5.1 Channel audio output and is compatible with DVD / DVD-R / SVCD / VCD /MP3 / MPEG4 / CD-R & CD-RW. This DVD player has Parental lock feature too. If you have used Bajaj Electrical or Electronic items, you may like this product too.

Onida is known to manufacture few electronic items of quality. Hence we see few models from Onida. Despite being popular in Television segment, they have not ventured into too many products. However, Onida offers DVD players. ONIDA DFX 7100 is another good product from Onida. This is priced very reasonably between Rs. 2,800 to 3,990. This 38mmX 430mm X 260 mm player is sleek and the picture quality is very good. It can support Audio/Video Formats like MPEG2, NTSC/PAL and supports CD, VCD, MP3 Discs. The service is good, though it may not be required!

Another DVD player worth considering is SAMSUNG DVD P255K which is priced around Rs. 3,990. This DVD player supports audio/video formats of MPEG2 and NTSC/PAL. Media supported are CD, VCD, MP3, Windows Media Audio Disc. This DVD player offers 5.1 Multi Channel Audio Output with six full range channels - Left, Center, Right, Surround Left, Surround Right and the Subwoofer. This gives you an experience of watching the movie in a theatre.

All the manufacturers upgrade their DVD players with new features at regular intervals. Hence you need to check with the suppliers about the new features and the warranty, if the model becomes obsolete. These DVD players are low cost electronic gadgets and can not expect a life time service. Hence, it is recommended to buy one which you feel comfortable with brand name, features, price and service. I will highly advice you to also consult some friends who are having these DVD players and ask for their input instead of asking the shop owners who never give honest answers.
