Although tata Motor has announced they are going to launch a car in early 2008 for as low as approximately Rs. One lakh(and boy, I am hearing this for the past 5 years now), there are a few low price cars available in the Indian market in case you don't want to wait that long(infact my gut feeling says don't wait for Tata car, it may never arrive at that price!).
MARUTI 800
The Grandfather in indian cards. often called as "Garib ka rath" is available in two models in two colors. For Non ac modal in non metallic color the price is abot 2.3 Lakhs and for metallic color price is about 2.5 Lakhs. Maruti 800 is available in both AC and non-AC variants and is Bharat Stage III version. It is a trouble free car if you can maintains it regularly. Honestly I am not sure why you really want to go with this model when there are way better option this in class A segment of Indian cars. And ya, may be Maruti has biggest dealer network in India but the difference is not as much as it was 5 years back.
MARUTI ALTO STD BS III
It is priced about 2.4 Lakhs. Alto is a great option if you are looking for a small budget car. It has got all the great features and look and has been designed to keep your safety in mind. Alto is available in vibrant color variations. It has Low friction engine and can be considered as a Most fuel efficient car in A2 segment (Petrol)
Hyundai Santro Xing XK
Tis is a non AC, Petrol modal and is priced about 2.85 Lakhs which is quite economic and it can be baught for an EMI of approximately Rs. 3800.00 (three thouand and eight hundred only) per month. For main features, it has Remote Fuel Lid Opener and Tail Gate Release, Clutch Foot Rest, Low Fuel Warning, Heater, Speed Blower Fan. Mileage is about 12-15 Kms/liter.
Fiat Uno 1.2 EL
This is a petrol version and priced approx 3.45 lakhs and can be baught for an EMI of Rs. 4500 (four thousand and five hundred only) per month. Its main feature includes Power-assisted, hydraulic break, Single point fuel injection, and it gives a mileage of 12 to 15 km/liter.
TATA Indica v2:
Tata Indica V2 has got total six models (DLE BS-II, DLE BS-III, DLS BS-II and DLS BS-III) and Price ranges from 3.43 lakhs to 3.68 lakhs. It can be baught for an approximate EMI of Rs 4600 (four thousand and six hundred only) Indica was first launched in 1998 and then came Indica V2, runway bestseller car in the passenger car segment. Its main feature includes SuperDrive engine, Block Shock absorbers, Smooth Ride suspension, Easy Shift gears and Wide Tread tyres, and is available in vibrant colors range and both in Diesel and petrol engine.
